The SH Ervin Gallery is located in the National Trust Center on the Observatory Hill. This is one of the most important of the art galleries located in the country of Australia. The works of hundreds of Australian artists, collected over the years, are displayed in this wonderful gallery. It has always done its bit in promoting and organizing the artistic works of the women artists. The building which now houses the gallery was constructed in the year 1856. It was designed by the architect Henry Robertson. The building used to serve the purpose of acting as an extension of the Fort Street School till the 1970s. The SH Ervin Gallery came into being on the month of May in the year 1978.
